I can't remember not feeling fat. My mom started putting me on diets in elementary school. I had all the great fat kid nick names, and none of the skinny kid social life. Thank heavens for the drama department in high school! I did have one brief moment of thinness after going on Medifast (a liquid diet like Oprah did) when I was a junior in high school. I got down to 135 lbs, and I was able to wear a size 6 prom dress! My hair was also falling out and I wasn't allowed solid food. No good. I did manage to get a boyfriend (and eventually a temporary fiance) out of it though. My weight gradually crept back up. By the time I got married (to my wonderful husband, not the temporary fiance from high school) I weighed 170 and wore a size 12 wedding dress. Then when I got pregnant with my first of three children I weighed in at 199. I knew the pregnancy would make me break 200. After 3 children, I topped out at 268. For a couple of years I yo-yoed by trying every diet in the book. Then in November of 2000, when I weighed 250 miserable lbs., I read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. It literally changed my life. It sounded radical, but I needed something radical. Come to find out, it's not that radical after all. I am finally free of constant cravings for breads, sweets, colas, chocolate, etc... I lose weight consistently and don't feel hunger. I'll keep you updated on my progress with pictures and words, but check it out for yourself. Read the book. Follow the links. Get your life back!
